As the vice president of marketing and communications, Melissa Hendricks focuses on stewardship of the Cerner brand across domestic and global markets.
She leads teams that develop marketing strategies designed to grow the business, improve brand perception and articulate the company’s value proposition.
Since joining Cerner in 2005, Melissa held leadership roles responsible for shaping Cerner’s market presence, most recently serving as vice president of Marketing Strategy.
In her tenure at Cerner, Melissa has led multiple projects that advance the Cerner brand, including the rebranding of the corporate identity and the redesign of Cerner’s digital presence.
Prior to Cerner, Melissa had more than a decade of experience in roles of increasing responsibility in the consumer packaged goods industry, including roles at Cadbury Schweppes and Schering Plough.
Her work to advance the brand has received industry recognition including profiles in the fourth and fifth editions of Designing with Brand Identity.
Melissa is an active leader in the health care industry and her community, serving as a board member for the Nashville Health Care Council; the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) Education Foundation; the University of Missouri – Kansas City Bloch Marketing Advisory Council; Boys Hope/Girls Hope of Kansas City and St. Paul’s Episcopal Day School.
A proponent of continuing education, Melissa is a fellow of Nashville Health Care Council and the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), as well as a CHIME Foundation Certified Healthcare Executive.
Melissa is a graduate of the University of Missouri – Columbia where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in speech communication and Spanish. She also received her Master of Business Administration from Rockhurst University.
